Home Birth

Choosing to birth at home is a powerful way to place yourself, your family and your baby at the heart of your birth experience and your creation of family. We believe in your innate wisdom and our ability to help you to bring this wisdom forth as you navigate the often labyrinth-like world of the perinatal period.

As your primary care provider, we provide holistic prenatal care throughout your pregnancy including 24-hour phone access (for emergencies & birth only), continuity of care throughout your birth and a minimum of five postpartum visits to support your transition into parenthood.

Midwifery care for families choosing home birth includes genetic screening, holistic medical, social & family history, necessary labs, ultrasounds & referrals to insure a healthy pregnancy, birth and postpartum. We consult with OB backup when necessary and always create a sound transfer of care plan in case the necessity to birth in the hospital arises.

Our appointments are provided on a global obstetrical schedule, are a minimum of an hour and include the necessary prenatal assessments as well as discussing your emotional, physical & spiritual well being along the journey. We are committed to helping you create a doable self-care plan, a supported & safe birth & parenting life.

Prenatal visits are at our office with a home visit at 36 weeks to plan for the birth. The first two weeks of postpartum visits are at home and the rest in our office. We provide birth tubs and placenta encapsulation for our clients upon request and for an additional fee.

Individual Prenatal Visits

This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to receive a prenatal appointment with a Midwife without necessarily committing to a home birth, because you are traveling and need care or because you need help navigating the care you are receiving and the labyrinth-like journey of pregnancy and planning for a natural birth in a hospital environment. All prenatal visits include counseling, prenatal evaluation, nutritional and herbal recommendations, referrals and individualized support for you to feel centered, supported and powerful as you birth your baby into this world!

Breast/chest/body feeding Education & Support

Feeding your baby from your body is an amazingly natural and instinctive process that is often difficult to navigate due to variations on normal (low milk supply, difficult latches, sore nipples, reflux, lip/tongue ties etc.), too much conflicting information, birth trauma & general emotional challenges in the early postpartum period.

Comadres offers individual appointments for people needing support in establishing and maintaining a healthy, successful and satisfying breastfeeding relationship with their baby.

We believe in on demand feeding, the utilization of the breast crawl, biological nurturing, collaborative feeding & the use of support tools like pillows, nipple shields, supplemental nursing systems and conscious supplementation when indicated. We primarily utilize ancient wisdom, herbal & homeopathic support in addressing variations on normal but are skillful with allopathic approaches as well.

We bring our years of experience and a lot of love for supporting you in this process. Appointments are offered both at our office and at home (for an additional fee).

Individual Postpartum Visits

Providing Postpartum Care is a deep commitment of Comadres and a great pleasure to provide.

Our home birth clients enjoy our postpartum care for the entire stretch of the fourth trimester. We want every birthing family to have the same care so we offer these individual visits for anyone who wants the benefits of postpartum midwifery care regardless of birth place. Postpartum visits include clinical evaluation of both the mother/birthing person and baby, various referrals specific to your needs, bodyfeeding support and guidance, nutritional and herbal recommendations, deep listening and reflection and a lot of love!

Postpartum Care Package

This package includes 6 postpartum care visits from either the moment of your birth or to add on to the midwifery care you received in your home birth package so that you receive care throughout the entire fourth trimester.

It includes in-home visits ranging from 60-90 minutes, one birth process session, lactation support and counseling, nutritional/supplemental guidance and wisdom in navigating being a new parent.

Holistic Pelvic Care

These sessions are for anyone who wants to work on healing in their pelvic floor.

This could be due to previous trauma, childbirth or a simple knowing that you need release and care for this under cared for part of the body. These sessions combine my many years of experience as a Midwife with a thorough intake/assessment, cranial holds, breathwork, visualization, internal and external release work. I offer pelvic healing sessions to anyone who has a vulva across the spectrum of gender, and am committed to finding the most relevant and respectful language for this work with each individual.

Birth Spirituality and Healing Coaching Sessions (BSHC)

These coaching sessions are an invitation to slow down.

Through the use of various somatic practices, active listening and reflection, meditations, visualizations and other earth based ceremonial practices, begin the journey of integrating your own birth, your own experience of giving birth and/or supporting a birth. With this integration comes a greater sense of peace, wholeheartedness and ideally acceptance for whatever the initiation of birth asked of you.

Sessions are for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Together we will create a safe space and work at a conscious pace for you and your process on your journey of integrating & healing.

Pediatric Care

Many of our clients desire an on-going relationship with a midwife for themselves and for the dynamic early years of their children.

Comadres is a licensed pediatric provider with decades of comprehensive experience to provide holistic and skillful long-term care for your newborn into their toddler years. We provide long-term body feeding support, nutritional & herbal consultation for the feeding parent, basic growth & health assessment of the child, informed consent on vaccines, guidance and referrals, other pediatric referrals and support.

To meet the needs of Northbay Families, Comadres has partnered with Community Midwifery. Together we created North Bay Fertility and Conception Care.

We bring our unique loving care to Queer, Trans, Gender nonconforming and straight families alike.

Part of our care here at North Bay Fertility and Conception Care is to understand your journey towards conception and to support you in the most holistic way possible.This includes the three layers of our lives that we are all navigating.

The first layer being ourselves, our personal/ancestral stories and our beliefs.

The second layer is our family systems. Are you becoming a single parent by choice? Are you in a queer family structure? Are you straight with a non-fertile sperm producing partner? The list goes on.

The third layer is the system of care that we choose. It is so easy to feel pathologized on this journey of ‘alternative’ conception. Our commitment is to nurture your unique layers and to normalize your experience within the context that it lives so that you and your family of choice will thrive!!!! We have mad skills and are excited to share them with you.

Well Person Care

For Women of all gender expressions & Trans Men who still have uteri.

Most people don’t know that you can receive your reproductive wellness exams and related reproductive health care needs from a licensed Midwife. Well Yes You Can, and we believe that Well Person Care is Self Care! And in the same spirit that Midwives care for birthing women/people, we care for women/people in all stages of their reproductive life inclusive of all ethnicity, age, gender expression, sexual orientation, economic status, physical ability and whether or not you ever choose to have a child.

Well Person Care includes:

• Physical Exam, Pap smears, breast/chest exams
• Lab testing for basic health panels, STI’s & Fertility
• Mammogram and/or Thermography referrals
• Breast/Chest Health Referrals
• Reproductive Health Counseling (Fertility Awareness, Natural Family Planning Pre & Conception Support)

Fertility Counseling & Conception Care

These services are for people who are wanting a Midwife’s perspective and support on their fertility, preconception care and Intrauterine Insemination.

We are well versed in a holistic perspective on fertility for both straight and queer families, base our recommendations on your individual history both medically, emotionally and spiritually and will support you with individual self-care plans, appropriate labs, nutritional and herbal support, in-office & in home insemination and necessary follow-up including additional referrals.

Our practitioner line of herbal products for the childbearing years.

We have speciality formulas for every stage of pregnancy, various conditions, birth and postpartum support. We are also happy to make individual formulations.

Nutritional Services & Herbal Consultations

All of our clients receive in-depth nutritional & herbal consultation, guidance and support.
